The Swedish Gaming Authority’s Consultation Response to SOU 2023:38

Strängnäs, Sweden (November 3, 2023) — In SOU 2023:38, a series of measures are proposed to counteract risky lending and over-indebtedness. One of the proposals concerns an extension of the credit ban in the Gambling Act (2018:1138) and means that it shall be prohibited for a license holder or a gambling agent to promote the opportunities for someone else to offer or provide credit for stakes in gambling.

Another proposal concerns the introduction of a system for debt and credit registers (Skri register) to get a more comprehensive picture of a consumer’s debts.
