Ksa Has Imposed Two Binding Instructions on Hosting Provider Cloudflare for Affiliate Services
THE HAGUE (December 1, 2023) — The Gaming Authority (Ksa) has imposed two binding instructions on hosting provider Cloudflare for providing services to the affiliate websites nederlandscasinos.net and onlinecasinosspelen.com. With these instructions, Cloudflare is instructed to discontinue and maintain its services to these affiliates.
Dutch players can participate in illegal games of chance via the relevant websites. Because the identity of the owners of these affiliate websites could not be determined, Cloudflare receives the binding designation in both cases, because it makes the websites available in the Netherlands as a provider.
It is prohibited to offer games of chance in the Netherlands without a license from the Ksa. Promoting illegal gambling is also not permitted under the Gambling Act. To combat illegal offers, the Ksa takes various measures, for example erecting barriers at payment providers or internet providers. By ensuring that these intermediaries no longer offer their services to illegal providers, illegal offerings are made more difficult or possibly even stopped altogether.
The service must be stopped no later than two weeks after the instructions have been sent. If this is not the case, the Ksa can impose a subsequent sanction, for example a penalty and/or fine.
