– The government has given the Swedish Gambling Authority better conditions to sharpen supervision and develop work against unlicensed gambling and match-fixing. It is important to maintain strong consumer protection in the gambling area and to combat criminal activity, says Minister of Financial Markets Niklas Wykman.
The government also tasks the Gambling Inspectorate with developing the method for calculating the degree of channelization in the Swedish gambling market, as well as mapping the factors behind the increase in young people’s gambling and how such gambling is financed. The assignments must be reported no later than 1 October 2024 and 31 January 2025, respectively.
