Aristocrat Sues Light & Wonder Over Alleged Copy of Dragon Link Game
MACAU, SAR (March 13, 2024) — Global gaming content and technology company Aristocrat Leisure, has taken legal action against its main competitor over allegations of an unauthorised replication of its Dragon Link game.
The supplier of gaming machines to Macau casinos, is suing Light & Wonder for its alleged engagement in “a campaign to copy the game and confuse customers”, Australian news outlet ‘Financial Review‘ reported.
In court documents, Aristocrat has put forth allegations against Light & Wonder, claiming that the company obtained confidential information of the Dragon Link game, including game rules, symbols, pay tables and bonus features.
“On information and belief, L&W has knowingly and for profit engaged in this infringing use of the Aristocrat trade dress to attract players, knowing that players would wrongly believe that the games are associated or affiliated with, or sponsored or endorsed by, Aristocrat,” the court documents stated.
Aristocrat Leisure reported a year-on-year increase of 20.7 per cent in after-tax net profit, with EBITDA edging up by 13.8 per cent in the financial year ending on 30 September, 2023. In Asia, revenue and profit more than doubled compared to the previous year.
