Hoosier Lottery Promotes Positive Play for Financial Literacy Month
The Hoosier Lottery is again participating in National Financial Literacy Month awareness efforts to emphasize the importance of planning and budgeting as key to keeping play positive.
National Financial Literacy Month first began in April 2004 to highlight the importance of understanding financial decision-making and teach Americans how to create and maintain good financial habits.
“For the Hoosier Lottery, this is an extension of what we do all year long,” said Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah M. Taylor. “Our desire is for players to keep play positive and fun by knowing our games, understanding the odds and setting time and money limits. We have resources available to help our players keep their play at healthy, positive levels.”
The Hoosier Lottery offers several resources to help players boost their financial literacy. Players can visit HoosierLottery.com/PositivePlay to watch a set of educational Positive Play videos. This library includes a new “Understanding Draw Game Odds” video, as well as other fun, short videos that can help players better understand game odds, gambling myths and the importance of setting spending limits. Players can watch the “Understanding Draw Game Odds” video and then enter for a chance to win a Keep Play Positive Prize Pack.
The website also offers a digital Track Your Play Calculator to help players track the amount they spend on games, a Positive Play Quiz that lets players test their responsible gaming knowledge, a set of interactive Flip Tips that provide information about positive play, along with other resources.
Players can also find links to institutions that specialize in financial literacy resources at HoosierLottery.com/Positive-Play/Financial-Literacy-Educational-Tools/. In addition, the Problem Gambling Helpline is available by dialing 1-800-994-8448, texting INGAMB to 53342 or clicking the Chat Now link at the top of any Hoosier Lottery webpage.
