The Gaming Authority Will Publish the Amended Responsible Gaming Policy Rules in June

April 18, 2024 | Responsible gaming
THE HAGUE (April 17, 2024) — In December 2023, de Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) asked stakeholders in the gaming sector (providers, addiction care, experts) to respond to the proposed changes to the Responsible Gaming Policy Rules. These rules include a tightening of the duty of care of online providers for their players. The aim was to publish the amended policy rules in the Government Gazette at the beginning of May 2024. Due to the extension of the response period for everyone who wanted to provide input and the large number of responses, the Ksa has decided to postpone the publication date to Monday, June 3, 2024.

Adjusted publication date

After publication of the proposed changes, the Ksa decided, upon express request, to give all consulted parties more time to submit a response. The submitted responses were then carefully considered. This took more time than anticipated; therefore the publication date has been postponed.

Entry into force

On Monday, June 3, 2024, the majority of the amended Policy Rules will immediately come into effect. An exception is made for new provisions that require significant IT adjustments at online providers. The Ksa is aware that these provisions require more preparation time for providers. The Ksa will announce the date on which these provisions will come into effect shortly.
