WestLotto Supports Sporting Highlights in North Rhine-Westphalia with Five Million Euros
Münster, Germany (April 23, 2024) — With five million euros in funding over the next five years, WestLotto is sending a strong signal for sport in North Rhine-Westphalia. On Monday, the largest German lottery company and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia announced a corresponding cooperation for Sportland.NRW. Accordingly, WestLotto will support major national and international sporting events in North Rhine-Westphalia for an initial period of five years.
“Major sporting events and top-class sport cannot be carried out without a certain amount of financial support – regardless of the sport. This is particularly true for the many events that are not already supported by TV money or large sponsors. That’s why we’re committed to this cooperation across the entire spectrum of sport,” says WestLotto managing director Andreas Kötter. WestLotto is already the largest sports sponsor in North Rhine-Westphalia thanks to the lottery principle.
This also includes close partnerships and our own projects with the State Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Sports Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia. “The cooperation with the state government for the sports state of North Rhine-Westphalia completes our strategy for the most comprehensive possible promotion of sport in our state,” said Kötter.
One million euros go into a variety of sporting events every year. The women’s and men’s field hockey final 4 kicks off on May 18th and 19th in Bonn. The new joint logo of WestLotto and Sportland.NRW will also be visible there for the first time.
