Government Tasks Authorities to Review How Cooperation to Combat Illegal Gambling Activities Can Be Strengthened

Strängnäs, Sweden (May 2, 2024) — On 4 May 2023, the government tasked Spelinspektionen (the Gambling Authority) and the Financial Supervisory Authority (FI) with the task of reviewing, within the framework of their cooperation, how the cooperation between the authorities can be strengthened:

• to counter illegal gambling activities on the Swedish gambling market as well as;
• prevent and prevent money laundering.

The authorities were tasked with analyzing, among other things, how, based on mandates and financial conditions, they can develop their cooperation in order to increase the possibilities of blocking payment mediation to and from illegal gambling operations.
