Graciela Garay: Awareness, Education and International Collaboration Are Key to Achieving Sporting Integrity
Buenos Aires, Argentina (June 10, 2024) — In dialogue with CIBELAE, Graciela Garay , director of Ethics and Compliance of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) , highlighted the organization’s commitment to the fight against match-fixing. During her intervention at the CIBELAE 2024 Conference, Garay highlighted the importance of awareness, education and prevention as fundamental pillars of this fight.
“Conmebol’s commitment to integrity in sport is absolute. We not only establish regulations and procedures, but we also investigate exhaustively to attack three main points: awareness, education and prevention,” said Graciela Garay.
The Director of Ethics and Compliance highlighted that the institution cannot be separated from the field and that its comprehensive approach includes key strategic alliances. “We have achieved fundamental strategic alliances.
This space generated by CIBELAE together with ULIS and the Council of Europe – in reference to the CIBELAE 2024 Conferences – is crucial to generate greater networking, share information and work as a team to combat match-fixing,” she added.
