Sabine Tonscheidt takes over as Head of Communications and Sponsoring from Dorothee Hoffmann

Wiesbaden, 05.07.2024. The long-standing Head of Communications and Sponsoring at LOTTO Hessen, Dorothee Hoffmann, handed over to her successor, Dr. Sabine Tonscheidt, on July 1, 2024. Tonscheidt is a proven communications expert and has worked for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH for the last 27 years. There she joined the press office in 1997 and dealt with all tasks related to internal and external communication, including crisis and digital communication. Later, the doctor of journalism moved to the in-house staff unit AgenZ (Agency for Market-Oriented Concepts). From Frankfurt, Bonn and Berlin, she was responsible for various international dialogue forums and political communication campaigns. From 2015 to 2022, she was Head of GIZ’s Corporate Communications Unit, working directly below the Executive Board.

At the end of 2022, she followed up with a one-and-a-half-year sabbatical.

“The entire LOTTO Hessen team, the management and I personally are very pleased about this new addition,” says the spokesman for the management of LOTTO Hessen, Martin Blach, “because with Sabine Tonscheidt we have succeeded in finding an experienced and competent successor for Dorothee Hoffmann without transition. I am looking forward to working with Sabine Tonscheidt and wish her a good hand and a lot of joy and success in her new tasks.”

Tonscheidt himself is also looking forward to the new position: “I find it extremely exciting to enter a completely new industry and to shape the communication and sponsorship tasks together with my team from now on. Instead of keeping an eye on the whole world, my focus will now be on the beautiful state of Hesse, where there is still a lot for me to discover.” The Frankfurt resident by choice also finds the public welfare-oriented approach of LOTTO Hessen particularly appealing: Around 20 percent of all gaming stakes by customers of Hesse’s state lottery go to social, sports, environmental and monument protection projects in the state. “So with every euro staked, the common good in Hesse benefits. That’s just as attractive as any individual game win.”

Dorothee Hoffmann has been Head of Corporate Communications at LOTTO Hessen GmbH since 2007, which has also included the sports and cultural sponsorship department since 2012. The graduate economist has been working in PR for 20 years and worked for the mail order industry before joining LOTTO Hessen.

“I would like to thank Dorothee Hoffmann for her excellent communication work in recent years,” said Blach. “With a lot of experience and passion for communication and sponsorship topics, she represented the company to the outside world. For her future, I wish her all the best, health and much joy in everything new.”

In the future, Dr. Sabine Tonscheidt will continue to be represented by Deputy Press Officer and Deputy Head of Staff Andreas Bickler.
