Florida Lottery Surpasses $47 Billion In Contributions to Education

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (September 20, 2024) – Today, the Florida Lottery (Lottery) proudly announces a monumental achievement, surpassing $47 billion in contributions to education since its inception in 1988. This latest milestone marks the Lottery’s consistent dedication to enhancing educational opportunities across Florida.

“We are incredibly proud to reach this $47 billion milestone,” said John F. Davis, Secretary of the Florida Lottery. “This achievement highlights our ongoing commitment to enriching the educational experience for students throughout Florida. Every dollar contributed helps to build a brighter future for our youth, supporting their dreams and educational aspirations.”

Aligned with its mission to alleviate financial barriers to higher education, the Lottery collaborates with various programs and organizations that share its commitment to education. By promoting awareness of the Bright Futures Scholarship Program and providing students and parents with necessary resources, the Lottery ensures that they can navigate evolving challenges and excel in their academic journeys. The Lottery’s contributions continue to support a range of educational initiatives, including K–12 programs, state colleges and universities, vocational and technical schools, and the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. Since its inception, over $8 billion has been allocated to Bright Futures, enabling nearly 1 million students to pursue post-secondary education and training.
