Three Out of Four Swedes Have Gambled for Money in the Past 12 Months: Spelinspektionen

Strängnäs, Sweden (January 11, 2024) — The general public about gambling is the name of the annual survey that the Gambling Inspectorate conducts to find out about Swedes’ gambling habits. The survey was conducted at the end of November 2023 in collaboration with the survey company Enkätfabriken.

The survey shows, among other things, that:

• 75 percent of all Swedes have gambled for money in the past 12 months. This is a slightly higher percentage compared to the previous measurement.
• 41 percent have gambled in the past week, which is an increase of 3 percentage points compared to the previous survey.
• 74 percent of players have played lotteries and number games, which is thus the most common form of gambling.
• 69 percent of all players think that gambling companies take responsibility for gambling problems, a slightly higher percentage compared to previous measurements.
• 65 percent know that it is possible to disconnect from games via Spelpaus.se, a slightly higher percentage compared to the previous survey.
