Kentucky Lottery Named A ‘Best Place to Work’ For Fourth Consecutive Year

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (April 1, 2024) — For the fourth consecutive year, the Kentucky Lottery has been named one of the Best Places to Work in the Commonwealth by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.

“Winning at the Kentucky Lottery means more than our entertaining games and the millions of dollars in scholarships and grants we fund annually,” Lottery President and CEO Mary Harville said. “Winning first starts with its employees. The Kentucky Lottery offers a nurturing and beneficial work environment where employees not only succeed in their daily roles but also have growth and advancement opportunities at every level.”

This highly coveted award was given to the Lottery in the medium-sized company category for organizations with 150 to 499 employees. The designation is based on an assessment of the company’s employee benefits, policies and procedures and an internal employee survey.

The Lottery provides an engaging workplace for employees to coalesce through ongoing education, topnotch wellness and benefits programs, robust retirement plans, and platforms to share their ideas and use their voices.

“Employees consistently say that they value the family-like atmosphere of genuine caring for one another, and you will often hear references to ‘my KLC family,'” Harville said. “This empathy, this caring is what really makes the difference at the Lottery and in our employee giving when Kentuckians are in need – like employee donations to the Western Kentucky tornado victims and the Eastern Kentucky flood victims.”

Lottery employees take to heart the company’s mission in funding college scholarships and grants – making a difference in the lives of young Kentuckians and improving the lives of Kentuckians as a whole, she said.

Under Harville’s leadership, the Lottery has been designated a Best Place to Work in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

The designation is presented by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management, and CHI Saint Joseph Health. Workforce Research Group manages the selection process. The program aims to motivate Kentucky companies to improve their workplace environments by focusing, measuring and moving them toward excellence.

In 2023, the Kentucky Lottery paid out more than $1.4 billion in prizes. Since 1989, proceeds from Kentucky Lottery tickets have raised more than $6.8 billion for good causes. Since 1999, Kentucky Lottery proceeds have funded more than $5 billion in scholarships and grants for Kentucky college students.
