(June 18, 2024) Security and player protection as cornerstones: After the Responsible Gaming certification in 2022, LOTTO Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has successfully passed the next partial certification in accordance with European standards for responsible gambling from the European Lotteries (EL). In May, an independent auditing firm carried out the analytical assessment of the strict requirements of the European umbrella organization.

Dr. Ait Stapelfeld, Managing Director of LOTTO Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, happily holds the European Lotteries certificate in his hands.

In order to maintain the certification and thus the “aligned” status, LOTTO MV undergoes an independent assessment every three years regarding compliance with the Responsible Gaming regulations. In addition, a partial assessment takes place within this period to ensure further development. The audit includes a detailed assessment of the measures in ten areas. These include: management, employee training, retail programs, game design, digital channels, advertising and marketing, treatment mediation, player education, cooperation with stakeholders and the research area.

The overall result of 97.5% confirms LOTTO Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s commitment, progress and continuous compliance with the highest standards in player and youth protection.

Responsible gaming means the responsible handling of gambling. This includes, among other things, comprehensive information and education in the area of gaming, effective implementation and compliance with player and youth protection with strict control mechanisms, a comprehensive blocking system and the provision of information on advisory institutions and external assistance offers. A report on the activities is published annually.

By meeting the European standards, LOTTO Mecklenburg-Vorpommern also meets the international requirements for responsible gambling of the World Lottery Association (WLA), the world lottery association, at the highest level 4. A new audit is due next year to maintain full certification.
