Colorado Lottery Promotes Responsible Gaming Education Month this September
Pueblo, Colo. (August 29, 2024) — The Colorado Lottery is participating in Responsible Gaming Education Month (RGEM) in September to help educate Coloradans what it means to Keep Play Fun. Throughout the month, the Lottery’s responsible gaming team will be at a number of events to help educate players about playing smart.
The Lottery’s campaign around responsible gaming education will test event attendees’ knowledge of keeping play fun with a Two Tips & a Myth game. The Lottery will help educate Coloradans by promoting gambling literacy, empowering players to make informed decisions, and creating fun ways for players to engage in the conversation. There are a lot of misconceptions about gambling. Many people believe that gambling only becomes a problem when it happens every day. In reality, problematic gambling is defined by how it impacts someone’s life, not just how often they play. For RGEM, we’re here to help our players be the best players they can be while keeping play fun.
For RGEM, the Lottery will help its players play safe while keeping play fun with games and prizes. The Lottery will be at Colorado Lottery Day at the State Fair on Sept. 1 to kick off RGEM and promote responsible gaming. People can check the Lottery website for more events to be added.
The Lottery has always operated responsibly, but adding Responsibility to the three Pillars that support the organization, along with Revenue and Conservation, illustrates that the Lottery does not believe any one of the pillars is more important than another, and works to ensure they are in balance. Responsible Gaming touches part of Lottery operations and reaches every stakeholder. Today more than ever, the Colorado Lottery is living its commitment to responsibility every day, in every way.
In September, the Lottery will remind players that playing smart means players:
-
Never chase losses.
-
Set a dollar limit and stick to it.
-
Balance gambling with other fun activities.
-
Don’t play when you are upset or depressed.
-
Never gamble with money needed for expenses.
-
Play for fun and entertainment, not for money.
-
Take a break from playing every now and again.
-
Treat winning as a bonus.
-
Don’t gamble on credit, borrow to play, or gamble illegally.
-
Know how the games work and your odds of winning.
-
If you’re unsure whether you’re overstepping your limits, ask for help.
