China National Lottery Sales in July 2024

1. National lottery sales

　　In July, the total sales of lottery tickets nationwide amounted to 54.655 billion yuan ^[1] , an increase of 5.750 billion yuan or 11.8% year-on-year. Of this total, welfare lottery sales amounted to 17.635 billion yuan, a decrease of 231 million yuan or 1.3% year-on-year, mainly due to the relatively high base of the same period last year and the decline in the sales of instant lottery tickets. Sports lottery sales amounted to 37.020 billion yuan, an increase of 5.981 billion yuan or 19.3% year-on-year, mainly due to the short-term rapid growth in the sales of guessing lottery tickets driven by the European Cup.

　　From January to July, the total lottery sales in China totaled 363.133 billion yuan, up 40.329 billion yuan or 12.5% ​​year-on-year. Among them, welfare lottery agencies sold 122.654 billion yuan, up 14.972 billion yuan or 13.9% year-on-year; sports lottery agencies sold 240.479 billion yuan, up 25.357 billion yuan or 11.8% year-on-year.

　　2. Lottery Sales by Type

　　In July, the sales of lottery numbers were 14.927 billion yuan, down 264 million yuan year-on-year, down 1.7%; the sales of lottery guessing were 28.171 billion yuan, up 9.289 billion yuan year-on-year, up 49.2%; the sales of instant lottery were 7.798 billion yuan, down 3.439 billion yuan year-on-year, down 30.6%; the sales of Keno lottery were 3.759 billion yuan, up 164 million yuan year-on-year, up 4.6%. In July, the sales of lottery numbers, guessing, instant, and Keno accounted for 27.3%, 51.5%, 14.3%, and 6.9% of the total lottery sales, respectively. The sales of video lottery were 0.0013 billion yuan, down 0.0001 billion yuan year-on-year.

　　From January to July, the sales of lottery numbers reached 105.021 billion yuan, an increase of 5.437 billion yuan or 5.5% year-on-year; the sales of lottery guessing reached 162.094 billion yuan, an increase of 21.241 billion yuan or 15.1% year-on-year; the sales of instant lottery reached 71.384 billion yuan, an increase of 9.127 billion yuan or 14.7% year-on-year; and the sales of Keno lottery reached 24.633 billion yuan, an increase of 4.524 billion yuan or 22.5% year-on-year. From January to July, the sales of lottery numbers, guessing lottery, instant lottery and Keno lottery accounted for 28.9%, 44.6%, 19.7% and 6.8% of the total lottery sales respectively. The sales of video lottery reached 0.0081 billion yuan, a decrease of 0.0001 billion yuan year-on-year.

　　3. Lottery Sales by Region

　　In July, compared with the same period last year, lottery sales increased in the vast majority of provinces across the country, with Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui and Hunan seeing the largest increases, up 730 million yuan, 510 million yuan, 400 million yuan and 360 million yuan respectively.

　　Cumulatively from January to July, lottery sales in the vast majority of provinces in the country increased compared with the same period last year. Among them, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Hunan and Jiangsu saw the largest increases, increasing by 3.78 billion yuan, 3.31 billion yuan, 2.44 billion yuan and 2.29 billion yuan respectively.

　　Lottery agencies at all levels should closely track and analyze new situations and new problems, earnestly strengthen lottery issuance and sales, and ensure the smooth operation of the market. Financial departments at all levels should further strengthen lottery supervision, actively create a good external environment, maintain market order, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the lottery industry.
