Lottoland Hits 20 Million Customers Worldwide
Online lotto operator doubles its customer base in five years
Lottoland, the leading online lotto provider, has hit more than 20 million customers worldwide.
Launched in 2013, Lottoland disrupted the lottery market by offering consumers the chance to win huge jackpots instantly and access well-renowned draws from across the globe.
The company is now active in 15 markets, has over 450 employees and has welcomed 2.5 million new customers in the last 12 months alone. It hit the milestone of 10 million customers in 2019 and has now doubled that in just five years bringing its world customer base to 20 million.
Now in its 11th year of operation, Lottoland continues to be a leading figure in the gaming industry and in the last year has launched a series of new products for its customers, including Australia’s KenoGO, the world’s largest Keno jackpot. KenoGO has been an unprecedented success with 15% month on month growth and $100M in winnings already shared with customers to date.
On the 17th August 2024, Lottoland successfully submitted a license application to enter the Federal Regulated Market in Brazil. To date they have seen strong year-on-year growth in Brazil and expect this to continue as the company prepares to enter the regulated market.
Internally, Lottoland is one of the first operators to have launched its own customer service AI solution ‘Lopetto‘. The AI chatbot has saved over 3,600 hours of customer service agent time and contributed to a 27% increase in customer retention in its introductory markets – Germany, Austria and Brazil.
Nigel Birrell, CEO of Lottoland, said on its recent achievements: “Since the very beginning, we have always strived to be a driving force in the gaming industry and navigate new ways of disrupting the market. Back in 2013, Lottoland was the first company in the sector to have established its own insurance model which allowed us to continuously offer something exciting for our customers, with new products and record-breaking jackpots.
“Now, I’m incredibly proud that the team is continuing to break the mould to this day, not only with our products but with developments in AI and automation that are vastly improving performance for our customer base and for our staff.”
The business has also invested in environmental and social responsibility endeavours globally. In South Africa the Lottoland Cares movement was born in 2020 in the wake of the Covid pandemic to support communities, people, domestic animals, and wildlife in desperate need. While in Malta, the business has renewed its commitment towards the Wildlife Rescue Team with a donation to the Nature Trust, which receives upwards of 1400 calls per year. All rescued animals are put under one roof at a new Rehab Centre, which has one full-time member of staff that Lottoland’s donation contributes to.
Alongside its charity work, the operator has invested in making significant improvements to its sustainability practices and has committed to become net zero. During 2023, Lottoland reported a 25 tonne drop in carbon emissions and has been certified as Carbon Neutral* for the third year in a row.
On reaching the 20 million customer milestone Nigel added: “We’re thrilled to have over 20 million people now using Lottoland in 2024. This is a huge achievement for the worldwide Lottoland team, and I could not be prouder of them and their achievements in the past few years.
“To have doubled our customer base since 2019 is a fantastic accomplishment and it just goes to show that the time and effort that every person at Lottoland puts into its product offerings, customer service and brand recognition is worthwhile.
“We have lots of plans to keep innovating in the market and bringing exciting new things for our customers – all 20+ million of them.”
