China’s National Lottery Sales in December 2022 – Year-on-Year Increase of CYN29.592 Billion or 91.7%

 1. National lottery sales

In December, a total of 61.849 billion yuan * of lottery tickets were sold nationwide , a year-on-year increase of 29.592 billion yuan or 91.7%. Among them, the sales of welfare lottery institutions were 11.831 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 2.403 billion yuan, or 16.9%; the sales of sports lottery institutions were 50.018 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 31.995 billion yuan, an increase of 177.5%, mainly driven by the Football World Cup.

Accumulated from January to December, a total of 424.652 billion yuan of lottery tickets were sold nationwide, an increase of 51.367 billion yuan or 13.8% year-on-year. Among them, the sales of welfare lottery institutions were 148.131 billion yuan, an increase of 5.876 billion yuan or 4.1% year-on-year; the sales of sports lottery institutions were 276.522 billion yuan, an increase of 45.491 billion yuan or 19.7% year-on-year.

  

  2. Lottery sales by type

In December, Lotto digital lottery sales were 13.107 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.634 billion yuan, down 11.1%; guessing lottery sales were 42.995 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.366 billion yuan, an increase of 346.5%; A year-on-year decrease of 1.938 billion yuan, a decrease of 37.3%; Keno lottery sales of 2.495 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 203 million yuan, a decrease of 7.5%. In December, the sales of digital lottery tickets, guessing tickets, instant tickets and Keno tickets accounted for 21.2%, 69.5%, 5.3% and 4.0% of the total lottery sales respectively. Sales of video lottery tickets were 0.0002 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.0007 billion yuan.

Cumulatively from January to December, the sales of major lottery types fluctuated year-on-year due to factors such as the delisting of high-frequency quick-play games, promotion of lottery prizes, expansion of the sales scope of Keno-type lottery tickets, and the Football World Cup. Lotto digital lottery sales were 155.418 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 6.474 billion yuan, a decrease of 4.0%; guessing lottery sales were 180.927 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 46.628 billion yuan, an increase of 34.7%; instant lottery sales were 59.447 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.036 billion 100 million yuan, an increase of 9.3%; Keno lottery sales were 28.86 billion yuan, an increase of 6.177 billion yuan, an increase of 27.2%. From January to December, the sales of lottery numbers, guessing tickets, instant tickets and Keno tickets accounted for 36.6%, 42.6%, 14.0% and 6.8% of the total lottery sales respectively. Video lottery sales were 0.006 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.0037 billion yuan.

  

  3. Lottery sales by region

In December, compared with the same period of the previous year, lottery sales in all provinces of the country increased. Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong and Guangdong increased the most, with year-on-year increases of 3.36 billion yuan, 2.975 billion yuan, 2.138 billion yuan and 2.059 billion yuan respectively.

Accumulated from January to December, compared with the same period of last year, except for Jilin, Shanghai, Hainan and Tibet, the lottery sales in other provinces have increased. Among them, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shandong have a larger increase, with a year-on-year increase of 63.87% respectively. 100 million yuan, 5.685 billion yuan, 5.536 billion yuan and 3.563 billion yuan.

Lottery organizations at all levels should closely track and analyze new situations and new problems, effectively strengthen lottery distribution and sales, and ensure the smooth operation of the market.
