Coljuegos Led the “Second Regional Meeting to Fight Illegality in Games of Luck and Chance”, in Barranquilla

Bogota, Colombia (March 23, 2023) — The president of Coljuegos, Roger Carrillo Campo, directors of the guilds of the gambling sector, and authorities from Barranquilla and the department of Atlántico, held the “Second Regional Meeting to Fight Illegality in the Games of Luck and Chance”, in order to establish guidelines for the construction of a system that allows to identify, act and control the threats that may arise in the daily operations of the industry, but also to build new plans, programs, projects and through teamwork, which allow us to open new markets and continue promoting the growth and strengthening of the sector.

“Coljuegos participated in this table to publicize everything related to the promotion of legal and responsible gambling, regulations and legal scope of the crime, in addition to creating mechanisms that allow the exchange of information effectively, to strengthen the monitoring and control of operations illegal that may be occurring in this area of ​​the country,” said Roger Carrillo Campo, president of Coljuegos.

According to figures from Coljuegos and the control work carried out by the Entity, as of December 2022, the Illegal Operations Control Management withdrew a total of 1,811 elements of gambling, corresponding to 1,379 electronic machines. slot machines, 124 bingo chairs, 44 roulette chairs and 264 sports betting modules. Likewise, this dependency issued 261 administrative acts of confiscation and destruction, corresponding to 1,734 elements of games of luck and chance for destruction. In addition, the previous year, Coljuegos, the National Police Cyber ​​Center and the ICT Ministry blocked 2,150 illegal gambling websites.

“An illegal operation not only evades exploitation rights and the payment of taxes, which affect the resources of the nation and the health of Colombians, but also pays a lower level of rewards and has no guarantee of payment of prizes, affecting the players. With these operations, formal jobs are no longer generated, which makes it vulnerable to being used for criminal purposes and directly affects the local economy,” adds Roger Carrillo Campo, president of Coljuegos.

Finally, during 2023 Coljuegos will continue to focus on taking advantage of all the innovation capacity that can impact the gaming offer, incorporating greater technological scope in the market and promoting transparency practices for a sustainable operation. The Entity will continue under the line of teamwork, with unions, government entities and police authorities, whose responsibility is aimed at continuing to make the industry a pillar of economic strengthening for the country.
