The importance of Corporate Social Responsibility Around Safe and Responsible Gaming in Latin America

At the Ibero-American State Lottery and Betting Corporation (Cibelae), one of our main objectives is to be an organization that generates economic development and, above all, that contributes to social welfare in the countries where we are represented through the associated local lotteries. For this reason, it is vital and important to have modern, innovative mechanisms attached to the new trends in the sector, aimed at the promotion, adoption and application of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) around safe and responsible gaming in Latin America.

As members of Cibelae, we have the mission of promoting a responsible gaming culture, aimed at preventing gambling problems derived from compulsive gambling, which is caused by economic, psychological, family and social effects. For this reason, we must work to become an agent of change, focusing all our efforts on the management and implementation of the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility, these being the strategic transversal axis of our various activities and efforts.

We know that gambling can be a form of entertainment and fun for many people, but it is also true that it can have a negative impact on the mental, financial and social health of gamblers, as well as their families and loved ones. Therefore, it is important to approach the game in a responsible and conscious way. Our actions must be aimed at positively impacting all those who enjoy games of chance, whether they are occasional or regular players, having the responsibility of providing information and tools that allow them to make conscious and responsible decisions in their gambling behaviour.

In accordance with the above and seeking the promotion of safe and responsible gaming, we have developed the Responsible Gaming seminar: a transformative connection from March 22 to 24, 2023, with the support of the World Lottery Association (WLA), being a very important event and significance for all those interested in promoting safe and responsible gaming.

This event, without a doubt, has been a great opportunity for motivation, inspiration and advice, to be able to support the different lotteries that participated in the seminar, in the development and implementation of their various programs, creating value and positive social impact. This has been an opportunity to offer inspiration and practical guidance, to develop and implement their safe and responsible gaming programmes, creating value for operators, society and consumers.

The dynamism, responsibility and exponential growth that the evolution of our sector entails, challenges and drives us to continue working on the continuous improvement of our processes, especially certifying ourselves to achieve the quality levels aimed at generating efficiency and optimal operability. from local lotteries.

With all these contributions, the work we do to earn money is demonstrated, the way in which we earn it, but mainly, the people and causes in which we invest it in our societies.

Let us never forget that from our sector we can contribute to a better society.
