Justice Secretary Asks PAGCOR for Inventory of Companies with Gaming Licenses
MANILA, Philippines (May 8, 2023) — Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla wants to know what companies have licenses from the Philippine Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
Remulla revealed this Monday, May 8, following the May 4 raid of a cryptocurrency scam operation in Clark Sun Valley Hub Corporation located at the Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone, Mabalacat, Pampanga that resulted in the rescue of around 1,000 human trafficking victims who are mostly foreigners.
“I will be meeting PAGCOR about this to ask them about the licenses they have been giving,” he said.
“We might as well make an inventory of all the licenses and all the people who are here based on the licenses given by PAGCOR,” he pointed out.
Aside from PAGCOR, Remulla said he will also be meeting with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) also about the recent raid in Pampanga.
Meanwhile, Remulla said the justice department will ask for “a lot of digital tools” to analyze online criminal activities when the budget season starts.
“The internet is already the purveyor or the means by which people commit crime,” he lamented. “In fact when you look at the crimes now more than 80 percent of crimes have a digital fingerprint within these crimes,” he cited.
